Cavit Görkem Destan: “An Experimental Analysis of Misattribution Models” Projection bias and attribution bias are two fundamental errors in product evaluation. They occur when consumers neglect the effect of a state on the utility of the good and attribute that effect to the product. I conducted an experiment to test two popular models of attribution bias: Haggag et al. (2019) and Gagnon-Bartsch & Bushong (2019). The first results reject the Haggag et al. model and provide evidence in support of the Gagnon-Bartsch–Bushong model. This paper also delivers new insights on the underlying mechanism of these biases.
